BOSCH Premium Oxygen Sensors
It’s been 40 years since Bosch invented the Oxygen Sensor and began series production in 1976. That same year, the Volvo 240/260-series became the first passenger car equipped with the new Bosch sensor. From there, production grew steadily and the Oxygen Sensor became an essential tool for fuel efficiency and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
To date, Bosch has produced 1 billion Oxygen Sensors. It took 32 years – from 1976 to 2008 – to reach the production record of 500 million pieces, but only eight years – from 2008 to 2016 – to double the production figures to 1 billion sensors. Bosch Oxygen Sensors continue to lead the market with their high-quality reputation; an attribute that has defined Bosch since its inception.
A New Oxygen Sensor Impacts Your Car!

A defective or sluggish oxygen sensor can cause a variety of issues, like decreased engine performance. Replacing a defective O2 sensor helps ensure your engine is constantly monitored and operating efficiently, while maximizing performance. |
The ideal air-fuel ratio of a gasoline engine is 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel, which is known as complete combustion. The vehicle's engine control unit uses an O2 sensor to regulate air-fuel mixture by checking the oxygen content in a vehicle’s exhaust. This results in fuel savings. |
The catalytic converter is responsible for removing the harmful emissions from your vehicle’s exhaust. A defective oxygen sensor can cause your catalytic converter to fail prematurely. Replacing a catalytic converter can cost thousands of dollars, significantly more than most standard oxygen sensor replacements. |
If complete combustion is not maintained, other chemical compounds can form in large amounts. These include greenhouse gases, carbon monoxide and excess hydrocarbons. Replacing a defective oxygen sensor is the most effective way to control the combustion process and reduce emissions. |
What Makes Bosch Oxygen Sensors So Unique?
American Made on Bosch OE Production Lines
One of the largest Bosch oxygen sensor factories is located in the U.S. in Anderson, South Carolina. We have been producing O2 sensors here since 1991 and we currently produce 15+ million sensors annually. Our O2 sensor reverse engineering team is located within this OE facility and is solely dedicated to serve the aftermarket division of Bosch. For oxygen sensors where we are not the OE supplier, we will reverse engineer the sensors and produce them on exactly the same production lines as our OE oxygen sensors. No other O2 sensor manufacturer has this unique capability. Between our OE O2 sensors and our reverse engineered sensors roughly 90% of our annual sales get produced on Bosch OE production lines.
Fun Fact
Some customers have noticed a dark discoloration on some Bosch sensors and question if the part is used. Rest assured that this discoloration is the result of one of our fully automated manufacturing processes – one of many processes that we utilize to ensure that you receive a high-quality sensor from Bosch!
