What is it?
Shock absorbers and struts dampen the motions of the suspension to provide a smooth, comfortable and safe ride. Some OEM shocks even have electronic valving that allows the driver or a body control module to adjust the dampening characteristics of the shocks or struts to changing driving conditions.
Because the damping characteristics of shocks deteriorate gradually over time, the decline in ride control often occurs unnoticed. Consequently, many motorists are unaware of how weak their original shocks and struts have become. They get used to the way their vehicle rides and handles, and may not realize they need new shocks or struts.
Although you won’t find a recommended replacement interval for shocks or struts in a vehicle owner’s manual, one aftermarket shock supplier says shocks and struts should be replaced every 50,000 miles — and has solid research to back up the recommendation.

How to replace the Shock Absorber?
Cut air suspension off and return the ignition switch to the off position. Safely raise the vehicle and remove rear wheel.
Remove upper retaining clips from rear air spring. Disconnect electrical connector from the shock.
Locate Air Connister at the rear of the vehicle and disconnect air lines. Place a Jack under rear Axle and renove bottom shock bolts.
Pull down air spring to access air line and disconnect the line.
Using spring compressors and place the coil spring with spring puck into it's proper position.
Romove spring compressor, then remove the top shock nut and shock.
Install Shock Absorber into the upper and lower mounts. Add bushing and tighten shock nuts.
Remove Jack from underneath the Axle and tie air lines securely out of the way.
Reinstall rear wheel and sefely lower the vehicle to the ground.
(Common symptoms indicate you may need to replace Shock Absorber: Unstable, bouncy ride; Tires losing contact with the road; Hard impact when you drive over a bump; Leaking fluid)
