If the filter is accessed from below, use jack stands or a vehicle ramp to be safe. Use a good funnel into a drain pan to catch all the used oil. Remember, once you easily take the filter off, make sure the oil filter ring comes off too and install the new filter and ring by hand only. You don't want to over-tighten the new filter by using a wrench. The wrench is designed to increase the grip the more pressure you put on the wrench. If there is a lot of oil or grease on the filter, you may want to use some grip tape or foam to increase the grip.
