WHAT ARE BALL JOINTS?
A critical component of the front suspension, ball joints consist of a ball and socket similar to the hip joint of the human body. Ball joints provide pivoting movement between the steering knuckles and control arms to provide a safe, smooth ride and allow you to precisely control your vehicle.
Think your ball joints have gone bad? Worn ball joints contribute to looseness in the front suspension and prevent your vehicle from maintaining wheel alignment. You may experience steering looseness, steering vibration, unusual noises and excessive tire wear.

VEHICLE PULLING TO LEFT OR RIGHT?A failing ball joint can cause your vehicle to pull to the left or right which makes it difficult to control your vehicle. |
FRONT END SHIMMYLoose suspension system components such as ball joints can contribute to front end shimmy. You may feel vibration through the seat, steering wheel or brake pedal. |
UNEVEN OR PREMATURE TIRE WEARExcessive inner tire wear is a sign that there could be something wrong with your ball joints. |
POTHOLE DAMAGERepeatedly running over potholes can have a detrimental effect on your vehicleโs suspension system. If you hit a large pothole, look for signs of suspension problems like: bottoming out, excessive bouncing and loss of control, vibration in your steering wheel, loose steering, car pulling to one side or uneven tire wear. |
