2. These crossbars are designed with the weight capacity of 99lbs. The loads weight is the total of the item and attachment installed as well as the pressure from the wind drag. We do encourage that you distribute your load evenly and check the load and mountings from time-to-time if you are using the crossbars for a long trip. When carrying larger items like Kayaks, the size will cause extra wind drag that will add additional pressure/weight on both the kayak and the crossbars.
