About This Item

Dark Dutch Cocoa Powder by OliveNation features a deep bittersweet chocolate flavor and rich color. Our premium cocoa powder is processed with alkali to reduce the natural acidity of chocolate and deliver delicious taste. Try our Dark Dutch Cocoa Powder in cookies, cakes, and other baked goods. It also tastes delicious in hot chocolate, pudding, homemade ice cream, and more. Our Dark Dutch Cocoa Powder is non-GMO, kosher, gluten-free, and made in the USA. It also features a darker color than natural cocoa powder.

Can Dark Dutch Cocoa Powder be Used as a Substitute for Natural Cocoa Powder?
It depends on the application. For liquid recipes including buttercream, frosting, mousse, pudding, ice cream, and hot chocolate, you can use Dutch-process cocoa powder. Some recipes for baked goods were designed for a specific type of cocoa powder and might not yield best results with a substitution. As a rule of thumb, for recipes that have a leveling agent, such as, baking powder or baking soda, use the type of cocoa powder requested. Typically, American recipes call for natural cocoa powder, while European recipes use Dutch-process.

How to Substitute Dark Dutch Cocoa Powder for Unsweetened Baking Chocolate
In a pinch, you can substitute Dark Dutch Cocoa Powder for unsweetened baking chocolate. For 1-ounce unsweetened baking chocolate use 3 tablespoons Dark Dutch Cocoa Powder and 1 tablespoon butter, shortening, or vegetable oil.

How to Store Dark Dutch Cocoa Powder
For best results, store in a cool dark place.
